Sustainability

At Somebody’s Sister, we believe that caring for your skin should never come at the cost to our environment. That’s why sustainability is at the heart of everything we do — from the ingredients we choose, to how we package and deliver our products.

Here’s how we’re making a difference:

Natural, Ethical Ingredients

We use only high-quality natural ingredients — many of them native to Aotearoa, like kanuka, kawakawa, and mānuka. Whenever possible, we source organic and locally grown ingredients to reduce our carbon footprint and support New Zealand growers.

We say no to harmful chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and anything that could harm you or the environment.

Earth-Friendly Packaging

We’re on a mission to reduce waste. Our packaging is:

  • Recyclable, refillable, or compostable

  • Designed to last and be reused where possible

  • Made using materials like glass, aluminium, and biodegradable alternatives to plastic

We’re constantly looking for new ways to make our packaging even better for Papatūānuku (Mother Earth).

Refill & Reuse Programs

We encourage you to reuse your bottles and jars through our refill options (coming soon!). Plus, you can return empty containers to us for responsible recycling.

Responsible Production

Our products are made in small batches to avoid overproduction and waste. We’re committed to:

  • Conserving water and energy during production

  • Keeping our supply chain as local as possible

  • Making everything cruelty-free, always!

Transparency You Can Trust

We want you to know exactly what’s in your skincare and how it’s made. We’re working toward certifications like:

  • BioGro Organic

  • B Corp

  • Carbon Zero

We also share our sustainability goals and progress openly — because we believe in accountability, not greenwashing.
